Nannies typically receive training in a variety of areas, including:
- Child development Curriculum: Nannies will receive and or have a basic understanding of how children grow and develop, both physically and emotionally. This includes knowledge of age-appropriate milestones, common developmental challenges, and strategies for supporting children’s development.
- Childcare practices: Our Nannies will be familiar with a variety of childcare practices, such as feeding, diapering, sleeping, and discipline. They should also be able to adapt their practices to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Safety: Our Nannies will be trained in infant and child safety, including CPR, first aid, and safe sleep practices. They should also be able to identify and prevent potential hazards in the home.
- Communication: Our Nannies will be able to communicate effectively with parents, children, and other caregivers. They should be able to listen actively, provide clear instructions, and resolve conflicts in a calm and constructive manner.
- Professionalism: Our Nannies will be professional and responsible in their work. They will be punctual, reliable, and respectful of the families they work for.
In addition to formal training, many nannies also gain valuable experience through on-the-job training and professional development opportunities we offer.
Here are some examples of specific training programs that nannies may complete:
- Early childhood education workshops (ECEW) courses: These courses provide nannies with a foundation in child development and childcare practices.
- CPR and first aid certification: This certification ensures that nannies are prepared to handle emergencies.
- Safe sleep training: This training helps nannies create a safe sleep environment for infants and young children.
- Cultural competency training: This training helps nannies understand and respect children from different cultural backgrounds.
